Course: Designing user interfaces with emerging technologies
Expertise areas:
Math, Data and Computing & Technology and Realization

Part group project with Bibi van der Meulen & Wanyan Zhang,

Within this course two projects where developed both aimed at improving healthcare through textile-based sensing. The first project explores a multitouch sensor sleeve for physiotherapy, enabling patients to self-track pain locations and gestures using a wearable, body-conforming sensor pad, enhancing remote consultations and session efficiency. The second project investigates an embroidered multitouch sensor floor for fall detection and prevention in dementia care. Through textile prototyping, it introduces a flexible sensing fabric that detects movement patterns without compromising privacy. Both projects merge capacitive sensing with user-centered design to support healthcare innovation.
